Central Maine Power Offers New Round of Electric-Vehicle Grants
Non-profits offered matching grants for vehicles and chargers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUSTA, Maine, June 27, 2017 Central Maine Power, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), is launching a new phase in its Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Grant Program. The utility will offer selected non-profit organizations matching funds to support the lease or purchase of eligible vehicles or the purchase and installation of a Level 2 or 3 charging station.
This marks the fourth year that CMP has offered grants for PEVs and charging infrastructure. The utility's programs have helped 18 non-profit organizations and small businesses to obtain PEVs and have added charging infrastructure throughout central and southern Maine. That charging equipment includes DC quick chargers for the public's use at the Fore Street parking garage in Portland and the South Portland Community Center, along with the recently unveiled charging stations at the Maine State House garage. Since 2013, CMP and the Avangrid Foundation have donated an estimated $250,000 for PEVs and charging infrastructure throughout Maine.
"Our own fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles in Maine includes passenger cars and bucket trucks, and will grow further with the addition of new, all-electric Chevy Bolts later this year, said CMP President and CEO Sara J. Burns. This is part of a commitment our parent company, AVANGRID, has made to spend at least five percent of its annual fleet acquisition budget on plug-in electric vehicles and equipment."
A limited number of grants are available. To qualify, non-profit organizations must be located and/or operating within CMP's service territory. Vehicles must have electric propulsion (either part- or full-time), plug-in battery charging, and be commercially available. Customized cars, home-made vehicles, or prototypes are not eligible. Visit https://www.cmpco.com/electricvehicles/grant_program_details.html for a complete list of requirements.
Organizations that wish to participate in CMP's PEV Grant Program must apply online at www.cmpco.com/electricvehicles/grant_application_2017.html or download the application to complete and mail to: John Gaudet, Public Affairs Department, CMP, 83 Edison Drive, Augusta, ME 04336. Completed applications and questions can also be submitted via e-mail to John.GaudetJr@cmpco.com. Deadline for applications is July 30, 2017. CMP will review all requests and will contact applicants by mail with a decision.
