Augusta, ME, January 11, 2016 Crews for Central Maine Power, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, have restored power to more than three-quarters of the customers who lost service during Sunday's storm. At 11 a.m. Monday, fewer than 7,400 customers remained without service, down from a peak of 32,000 Sunday evening. Hardest hit are communities in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, Waldo and northeastern Cumberland Counties.

"The strong winds from this storm blew tree limbs into lines and even brought entire trees down in some areas, said CMP Spokesperson Gail Rice. We mobilized our crews yesterday because of the forecast for high winds, and they worked through the night. Today, have moved additional crews to the hardest hit areas and will keep working until service is back for everyone."

CMP expects service to be restored to all affected customers by late Monday evening.

The company urges customers to use caution if they see downed lines.

" Everyone should stay clear of any downed power lines or fallen trees and limbs that may be tangled in the lines, said Rice. All downed lines should be considered live and dangerous. Customers should leave the clean-up to our crews, who are trained and equipped to handle these situations safely."

CMP also reminds drivers to use caution when approaching utility crews. The working conditions are difficult, and the workers appreciate everyone's consideration for their safety.
