Central Maine Power Announces President & CEO Sara Burns to Retire

 

 

After 30 years at CMP, Burns to Continue on as Board Member of Avangrid Networks

AUGUSTA, Maine  November 5, 2017  Central Maine Power Co. (CMP), an indirect subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a diversified energy and utility company, announces that President and CEO Sara J. Burns intends to retire at the end of 2017. Ms. Burns also will step down from her role of oversight for Asset Management and Planning, Business Development, and Regulatory Strategy for Avangrid Networks, Inc. Ms. Burns will join the Avangrid Networks Board of Directors in January 2018. Burns joined CMP in 1987, and after serving in various executive positions, she was named President in 1998 and CEO in 2005.


In addition to her career as a business leader, Ms. Burns remains an active civic leader in Maine as a member of the board of directors for Colby College, her alma mater. She is also a member of the board of directors of The Mitchell Institute and the Augusta Board of Trade. Burns is also Chairman of the board of directors of Maine & Company.


Following AVANGRID's succession planning process, a search is underway for CMP's new Chief Executive Officer to ensure a smooth transition.
