CMP Completes Restoration Caused by Winds, Eyes Friday Storm

Vast majority have power restored

AUGUSTA, ME—February 24, 2022– Central Maine Power (CMP) lineworkers, assisted by approximately 200 line contractor resources worked all night Wednesday and most of Thursday to restore outages created by a second round of persistently high wind gusts across the state.
Since the onset of the wind on Tuesday, approximately 54,000 customers have been impacted, and CMP has restored all but 300 outages as of 4:30pm Thursday.

The company will keep crews and contractors on duty Thursday night as a snowstorm rolls in early Friday.

“We have restored power to more than 50,000 customers over two days, moving crews to areas of greatest impact to work as efficiently as possible, said CMP Senior Director of Electric Operations, Kerri Therriault. “While we expect Friday’s snow to be powdery and there are no strong winds forecasted that could create outages, we remain prepared.”

CMP offers storm preparation tips and a checklist on our website cmpco.com. Customers may also enroll online in Outage Alerts to stay current in the event they lose power.
